So you’d like to visit a hunt! GREAT!!! First thing to know is that hunts are NOT open to the public. Visits needs to be planned. For safety reasons the club needs to know how many people to expect. There may be buildings with capacity maximums. If the event is catered, quantity is also necessary. Another very big issue is the gallery!!! Visitors desiring to observe the hunt need to be planned. There is nothing like driving hours to view a hunt at your own club to find strangers filling the gallery with no room for you. Strangers that don’t even test their dogs! While you’re training yours for an upcoming test. “And it’s the last test of the season”. Who’s in the gallery and when has to be planned and above all consented to by participants.
The term visitor includes family and friends. Knowing some participants want videography, family and friends listed as visitors should indicate their role and association with the participant. Visitors will need reasonable “escorts”. Visitors will also be required to sign in, sign out and wear a visitors pass as well. Clubs need to know who’s going to be there, when and with whom.
Guest Field Trial Judges and judge apprentices not participating in the judging process are considered visitors, but are NOT considered part of the gallery. 1-2 spaces is reserved for them on EACH hunt and each should be issued a judge mentor. By entry, participants have granted consent to participate in the judge ascension process, ergo “closed gallery” hunts will be open to judges for the purpose of education.
Unless otherwise stated in the clubs premium visitor forms will be available with entry forms. Visitor requests and their subsequent approval or denial are made through the individual hosting club and not through THG. Scheduling is at the sole discretion of the club.
